At various times I've gotten into arguments about ecological issues and people quote "experts" to dispute what I've heard, but it never does seem to occur to them that about 90% of these other experts are directly or indirectly in the pay of corporate entities who will suffer economically if made to clean up their act.

Also, have you noticed that there is a devil of a lot of anti-eco propaganda turning up on the news & as part of drama & light entertainment? Often the character genuinely concerned about planet sustainabilty is depicted as a looney conspiricist, even some episodes of "South Park" sound like they were ghost written by Rupert Murdoch.
