The continuing storyline only truly came in over the last five stories. Prior to that it's just 'Oh no! There are cylons here!
But the space battles, even allowing for the re-used footage, were impressive for any television series. There's a point, people complain about Battlestar re-using old footage for its narrative. I'd prefer re-used footage than Star Trek Next Generation's approach of not bloody showing anything!
Then we had the Star Trek feature films re-use the same explosion at the finale of two movies in a row!
