Insomnia

The last week or so, I've been going to bed late. I've put it down to being crook and getting up unusually late. It didn't seem to matter what time I went to bed, I wasn't close to being asleep by 2am. I took it that I had stuffed my sleep cycles.

The last couple of days I've ahd late nights and early mornings with the desired effect - last night at 10pm, I was knackered and ready to collapse into bed and sleep. I was in bed by 10 past 10, lights out, all snuggled and warm.

And I didn't sleep.

There are times when you don't think you've slept but you've actually been dozing. This wasn't one of those. I lay down and BING, the brain kicked into overdrive and wouldn't friggin' shut down. I was still awake at 2am! Bastard!

Been a while since I had an insomnia cycle. I'd forgotten how much I hate them.

I've had bad sleep patterns my whole life, being the uncontested World's Lightest Sleeper, now exacerbated by living with a relatively frequent snorer. My pattern for the past few weeks has been as follows: sleep restlessly if at all and wake up tired. Collapse into bed around 10:30 - 11. Even if sleep is achieved, wake up at 5 or so and find it impossible to go back to sleep. Therefore, become extremely tired and need to go to bed between 10:30 - 11. Rinse and repeat. Not as bad as insomnia so I won't claim I feel your pain but still annoying. Hang in there.

Yeah, I'm a light sleeper, though not as bad as I once was. Also familar with the pattern you mention here, though it's less of an issue post-stroke. Yay!

But knowing my pain or not, anything that screws with your sleep sucks.

Sharon snores, but I like her snores, they aren't too loud.
