Top Gear tonight

Just a reminder that at 7:30 tonight is Top Gear. I've watched them turn cars and vans into amphibious vehicles, seen a game of soccer using stunt drivers in small cars knocking around a giant ball, and seen them as roadies for The Who.

Tonight they attempt to turn the three-wheel Reliant Robin into a reusable shuttle by strapping it onto a rocket and sending it into space. It's also got Simon Pegg from Shaun of the Dead, and Hot Fuzz as their star in a reasonably-priced car.

Drat. Forgot. Will most likely miss it as going out to celebrate father's birthday.

Cars as an obssession is interesting... but I'm always up for Simon Pegg. :-)

Well, never watched Top Gear, Rob 'n' me, but as you seem so keen, we'll watch it tonight. Thanks!

Okay, I watched it!

I've seen a couple of segments of it before, so knew it was a good show in general. If they took all the car stuff out of it, I'd probably watch it regularly :) So I can see why car nuts would love it.

As it is, I'd just watch it if they had any guests on it I wanted to see, or segments like tonight's rocket one.

Leece and myself used to build and fly rockets quite regularly. I can only summarise the episode thus:

(Roughly quoting from "This is David Lander")
... when played back he described it as "chillingly familiar".

I watched one tonight on BBC where they each had to buy a car for $1000 (in America) and go through a series of tests. One test was the only thing they could eat...
was whatever roadkill they find alongside the road.
