It's all me, baby!

Swimming exhausts me for the entire next day, so you can imagine how buggered I am tonight after a lesson. I'm at the tired level where all my filters start to shut down one by one, so anything that's in my head starts to just come out. Fortunately typing filters things a little bit. But not much. I only just avoided replying to someone by saying, "Just send money... or naked pictures..." Given I don't know them that well, I rethought that one... just...

Anyway, my point here is my general silliness. After ten years of marriage, Sharon has just discovered that the silly stuff I do around her, mum, and other people, I also do when I'm on my own.

I thought she knew!

I was really surprised. I mean, I wasn't hiding it. Hell, I can't pass a mirror without gurning, or checking out how my body looks in different poses, and trying to decide which pose is funniest/stupidest/most likely to get a laugh. I talk to myself in silly voices. I mean I couldn't be as constant with my silliness if I wasn't this way when she wasn't around. The facade would slip. Oh I have my serious, quiet times. Lots of them. But the random acts of stupidity are always lurking in the background. And just because no-one else is present, so what?!

Shaz - 'I didn't realise you still do this stuff when you have no audience!'
Me - 'There's always an audience. Just because I can't see them doesn't mean they aren't there.'

[livejournal.com profile] harveystoat, [livejournal.com profile] gutter_monkey? I figure you're the two who would most be likely to do the same.

Life's too short not to be enjoying it every instant you can. Back me up, someone!

The only other option is to take yourself seriously.

That's not much of an option. :D

I know what you mean about tiredness equating to silliness. I have a very weird sense of humour that I keep in check most of the time, but as I get tired I reach a point where I don't control it very well and the mouth engages before the brain can do anything :)

I've never been (hangover) drunk , but I strongly suspect DrunkMe would be ten times worse then TiredMe. (Or I'd be REALLY obnoxious - again, not checking things that I say.)

I completely agree! Hell, when I was a kid and on my own, I'd turn to the imaginary studio audience and utter catchphrases like, "That's all, folks" and "I wonder what's behind THIS door!"

Of course, it hasn't stopped. I sing to myself while on my bicycle, a trucker actually honked his horn at me once. It was a beautiful moment. :-)

Life is too short to be consistently serious, jump on a biscuit and eat a trampoline.

Oh if I get caught one more time dancing in the corridor at work I'm going to solidify a very silly reputation.

All of my siblings and I bounce. We get excited about something- whether it's a conversation with someone, something on TV, a random thought, and we get up and bounce.

By "bounce" I mean leap 2 footed around the house.

Yet another reason why I respect and love you so much...^_^

i am even more silly and random when there's no one around cos there's no fear of anyone pulling me up on it...except for my neighbours, i don't mind them thinking i'm mad.

also, i've heard kerry doing all his silly stuff when i'm half asleep. he doesn't stop talking to himself or making up songs, or telling computers how horrible they are, just cos there's no audience.

there's always an audience, whatever your spiritual beliefs are, there's someone watching.

also, how could sharon not know that you do that stuff when she's not around...when she's not there to see it?

Hand slowly goes up.

I also talk to myself when alone. I ask myself questions and answer in a different voice. I put this down to having kids. They're pure noise all day, so when they're gone I find the silence stifling and need to fill it.

And the other thing I do when alone is dance around the house rather than walk. Well, not dance exactly, but perfrom aerobic moves. I'll grapevine, sashay, box step and easy walk from room to room because I feel so FREE!

I'm *more* silly when there's no one around*. Way more silly.

* Drhoz doesn't come under this. He's used to me doing odd little things randomly.
