Well said. One of the things that has bothered me about the recent Swancon thing is people talking about how they don't understand how you could be friends with someone who has done something so dreadful, how their friends will get demonised too, how the guy is better watch out. And I know that, to their friends, no matter how awful the thing they have done is, their friends and family get to see all the rest of them, see a lot more than I see.
Sure, I might want people out of particular spaces, sure I might have more compassion for the victim, but I also don't think that this one act defines that whole persons life and his friends and family should stop caring about them, or that we should criticise them for doing so.
