Gay Rights

Pinched from [livejournal.com profile] jack_ryder

"Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands?" - Ernest Gaines

We would like to know who really believes in gay rights on LiveJournal. There is no bribe of a miracle or anything like that. If you truly believe in gay rights, then repost this and title the post as "Gay Rights". If you don't believe in gay rights, then just ignore this. Thanks.

This one has a similar problem as one that went around that was an anti violence against women meme. It's a with us or against us mentality.

The wording on this one bothered me less than the anti-violence one, which strongly implied that all men had violent thoughts towards women. It felt like an accusation of guilt, so I thought 'fuck you!'

As far as I'm concerned, whether you believe in something or not, what you feel happy and comfortable putting up on your Livejournal is your business.

And I liked your solution. Feel free to use my LJ in this way again in the future :)

Likewise on the wording - the anti-violence one just got me into arguments about semantics, as I'm strongly against domestic violence regardless of gender but found the wording of the meme too sexist to be personally acceptable.

I considered rewording this one in a GBLT kind of direction, but figured the intent was clear enough this time around that I didn't want to dilute it.
