the beginning of this post follows on from your food santisation post...
the sheer number of cleaning products available to santise our houses is alarming... and people are becoming more and more allergic to these products too.
when my Mother-In-Law had breast cancer two years ago she did a lot of research into products (particularly what they did to your skin) and discovered WAY too many alarming facts about them.
So now we (the girls in the family) all buy each other soap and products that don't have, for one thing, Sodium Laureal Psophates (spelling?) and so on. And we try to buy more natural cleaning products (although I have always tried to reduce my cleaning products).
This fear culture is a MONEY spin - the next new cleaning product, teeth whitener, etc... let me assure you, they weren't invented for the GREATER GOOD (and I am a Socialist at heart) - they were invented to make money.
The last part of my rant - friends of mine who have a different product for every object in their house ... distress me no end.
