Healthy sex, and GO-1A

Why Should We Have Sex? 20 Good Healthy Reasons

And at the other end of things, a piece on the regulation GO-1A banning porn for soldiers. It's an interesting one, not because of the porn ban, what else does one expect from America (yes, go out and fight and maim and kill people, but don't look at naughty pictures!), but because of a side note about how under the same regulation servicemen are banned from keeping pets. More on that side of things here

It's not keeping pets so much as picking up stray animals - from a health point of view, that seems to make sense.

Rough on all concerned, though.

I get the health reasons, but at the same time can't help but see it as an attitude of trying to remove things that result in feelings that aren't considered useful for a 'warrior.'

America as a country comes across as a lot more comfy with violent emotions than compassionate or thoughtful ones.

Odd that this hasn't stopped the military from placing recruiting ads on gay websites. From my friend M. Christian's blog: http://frequentlyfelt.blogspot.com/2007/10/possible-headlines-include-but-are-not.html

*sighs* it's not as if they couldn't afford to vaccinate every serviceman and civilian contractor over there for the cost, say, of 5 minutes of the war. if not less.

Well, it looks like a large chunk of the 20 reasons only applies to those people that actually experience orgasm. Should those that don't not bother?

I was aware of that bias in the piece, but still thought it was interesting. The problem is that in the modern age, sex is only seen as desirable or worthwhile if there's an orgasm attached. The idea of sex as a way to be close or to just have a 'nice time' has been lost.

And while the piece does touch on the benefits of other aspects of sex, it does carry the 'orgasm agenda' as well. Certainly the most actively and highly sexed partner I've ever had probably only orgasmed a couple of times total with me over a few years, but she really enjoyed the sex, often being the one initiating it.

I'm assuming that there's not been much research done on the health benefits of highly enjoyable sex without orgasms. I'll add it to the list of possible research subjects :)

Reading that HSUS article was frustrating. I'm dealing with similar attitudes day to day and I'm not in a warzone or an area where rabies is an issue. The "cull" attitude also won't actually work long term for population or disease control, it never has yet they still do it.

Should be noted that rabies vaccine only gives you an extra bit of time to get treatment if you are bitten and you need a smaller course of treatment, it's not like other vaccines that mean if you are exposed you won't get sick.

ah, didn't know that

The culling doesn't work thing or the vaccination thing or the frustration of my day to day life thing?

The calory-burning list in the first link is awesome. :D
