Things New Parents Should Know # 2 - Disruptions

People expect babies to be a huge disruption to their lives, while nothing could be further from the truth.

Oh, there will be some minor adjustments, but nothing your life won't be improved by. Your child will bring a whole new sense of purpose to your existence. It will help you rearrange your priorities. You will not want to waste hours on worthless pursuits, because you will want to spend time with your child.

Such a vast improvement to your quality of life could hardly be called a disruption. It's a stepping stone, a becoming, a metamorphosis into someone new, different, better...

And your child will help you with this, because your child loves you. It doesn't want you getting confused about your priorites, because it knows this will upset you. It wants the best for you.

For instance, my son loves me so much, it's taken four tries over three hours to get this written.

Good to know you've got your priorities right. :)

Change and not a moment too soon!

Ah writing...You know I used to do zines at one in the morning, but knowing that my daughter will be wide awake and able to talk in sentences at 7AM kinda stopped that. (I am amazed at how much of a morning person she is)

LOL
Never ever ask parents of a newborn why something isn't done. You might get killed in the process!
:-)

I'm confused.

Is it a child, or an alien mind-controlling parasite?

Be strong, man! Hold on to those worthless pursuits! Fight!

The Master has been displeased by your comment, and has demanded your destruction!

He's welcome to join the queue.

I suspect my destruction is assured.

Not if enough Amazons suddenly ride into the picture with great flaming swords and shields and range themselves in front of you....

...maybe it is assured?

Depends. Are they facing the destroyee (me), with weapons of mass bollocksing at the ready?

[identity profile] tikiwanderer.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
I was picturing them ranging themselves as your defenders.

I'm confused. I thought children *were* alien mind-controlling parasites?

Win!

I guess it is all a matter of perspective.

Lovely post to read so it was worth the effort BTW!

Lex sounds wonderful. When I found out he'd been born I was so pleased for you.
And I ached to hold my little one. Smile.

I'm so looking forward to my turn (My Bubs is currently turning my insides into a trampoline..!)

Big hugs to you all.

**gets the giggles**

Very nicely written, my dear.

Revel in the love! Not that I need to tell you that. ;-)
