New Bond Song

[livejournal.com profile] angriest commented in this post that the new Bond song for Quantum of Solace is pretty bloody awful. I've just heard it, and must agree.

The silly thing is, just before hearing it, I got to see this one on YouTube. Okay it's a comedy take on a Bond theme and the new films, but it actually sounds way more like a Bond song than we've been given.

I can't help but think about when I first heard Madonna was doing the song for Die Another Day, I was over the moon. She has a good strong sassy voice, the kind I associate with a good Bond song. And then they messed with her voice and gave us a good song, but a crap Bond song.

I love most of the early Bond songs, they have that big, sexy, dark sound to them. For the record, my personal "recent" favourite is "World is Not Enough" by Garbage.

No point to this post, just thinking aloud...

Bring back Shirley Bassey... or Tom Jones or even Matt Munro... nah he's dead. Anyone but A-Ha! or Paul McCartney. Fortunately, from the reviews, the song is the only bad bit of QoS.

It's a pity, I actually like both of the artists separately, but that song is an abomination.

The only sensible option for a Daniel Craig-era Bond theme is Muse. Melody-driven, British and imcomparably kickass.
