All alone in the night

Did my exercise jog after 10pm tonight. There aren't lights on the tracks I use. Running in the dark is nice. You're alone with the sussuration of the stars and the moon as they talk to the land in words whispered with light. You're moving through the world, listening to the frogs chatter and the trees whisper, just another animal flitting through the dark...

Must jog more at night.

This was a beautiful thought... so glad to share it with you.

*love*

frog chatter is cool :)

One of my host families in Japan lived next to a rice field. In summer it would be filled with hundreds of tiny little frogs. There was no such thing as a silent night during summer, for all those frogs. It was awesome.

Jogging? *Running*? {shudder}

It's a starting point at either reclaiming some of my previous health, or staving off the deterioration that I've been experiencing.

It's a simple routine I do every second day - brisk five minute walk, then warm-ups, then alternating between 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes. Then I come back, stretch, shower... and am utterly rooted for the rest of the day :)

Remember, I'm jogging using a walking stick! So it's not that full-on *grin*

But I am noticing minor physical improvement. And strangely while all the exercises to improve my balance have done sweet FA, since starting the jogging there's been a noticable improvement.

Thats kinda my reaction too but... just like the "best" bike is the one that you actually ride so too the best exercise is the exercise that you actually do.

This is obviously working for Danny so I'll hide my shudders and applaud enthusiastically!

Applause! Standing Ovation! Encore! Encore! Do it again!

:D

yep, way to go Danny :)

Running's nasty for my back, but if it's something you've been able to do in the past and enjoy, then fair 'nuff. And the alternating with walking sounds good.

Its not too good on my knees either. I only do it to warm up at the gym on a treadmill. Mostly I just ride. :)

Most of the time you can barely call what I'm doing jogging, let alone running. But it's faster than a brisk walk :)

And if it didn't have the alternating, I'd be cactus!

Ooh, riding, I'd love to get back into that. I love how you don't realise how much you've exercised until you get off and your legs wobble :) But again, it's bad for my back, both the posture of it and all the bumping.

I'm not too bad on a reclined bike at my personal trainer's, but I wouldn't want to do that for more than 5-10 minutes at a time.

This is what I ride: http://www.greenspeed.com.au/gt5.html

Up hills, down hills (72KPH, Wheeeee!), and the seat is just as comfy after 118Ks as it is 1st thing in the morning. And no back or arm problems.

:)

You cant start a fire
You cant start a fire without a spark
This guns for hire
Even if we're just jogging in the dark

We Didn't Start The Fire by Billy Joel.

I believe one of those songs where every line was a newspaper headline.

I have a friend who likes to jog or go for a walk at 3 in the morning.

Actually its "Dancing in the Dark" by Bruce Springteen:

"We Didn't Start The Fire" does have a similar chorus and appears to be a much more interesting, and chronologically rigourous, song than I realised:

You're jogging now?
Most days just walking tires me out , I think if started jogging I'd end up going for a very long nap and tiring very quickly during the jogging and maddington is pretty weird during the day and I'd been too chicken to jog at night(too many weirdos around) .

Congrats on the jogging*hugs*

I use to live in a house that swampland next door to use and the frogs were very noisy especially in mating season and Ju also lives near swampland and from what I heard there sounds like there are at least three different species of frogs living there.
