While I have no problems with my parter donating (if he decided he wanted to) my preference would be for us to have our kid(s) first. If it happened the other way around, so be it ;)

I can understand the preference, but then again, is it that different to getting involved with someone who has kids from a previous relationship? Other than the fact he wouldn't know about these kids until much later, nor would there be any responsibilities.
