Absolutely; the fact that tobacco companies could argue that they shouldn't be held liable for the hospitalization costs of their victims because so many smokers die young that they were saving the state billions in pensions, is proof of that. It's the fact that some scientists would sell their professional credibility for a mere $10,000 that I find worrying.
