I totally agree on this point. I dabbled vaguely with polyamory (um, like polygamy but without the marriage part) earlier this year and while I've wound up happily mono again, letting myself love three very different people at the same time just increased my love for each of them individually. I probably wouldn't have wound up in the beautiful relationship I'm in if I hadn't had that experience to teach me that I *don't* have to get everything I want out of a single person in order to commit myself to him. ;-D
dalekboy already knows of my experiences with and feelings towards Lameo, so I'll leave it at that.
