There's a lot of stuff there that needs to be said.

I've been reading recently about the NRA in america; a woman attended one of their conferences and one of the major topics of discussion was that when you are under a restraint order from an "intimate partner" you are legally not allowed to be in posession of a fire arm during that time. The whole topic was about trying to argue with the law about this issue, rather than trying to understand and solve the problem of spousal abuse which leads to killings. I find that .... sad. And horrific, really.

More silences need to be broken, I think. We've all got a long way to go. It's not enough to just sit around going "violence is bad" we also need to seek out the reasons why it occurs and try to change the patterns of behaviour that lead to it. Nothing exists in a vacuum, and to stop it, I'm looking more and more to the next generations in the hope they will spring from what we are currently learning. The more silences that are broken, the less secret behavious get passed on and on without being challenged.
