I've only heard about this from your lj and from what you've written here it seems like it's just another case of a "fan being hypersensitive and not getting a joke". Which sadly doesn't seem surprising in the slightest. I remember when cons were alot of fun rather than stepping on eggshells because "OMG am I offending someone for not being PC enough?"
I hope that you managed to have a fairly enjoyable con otherwise and that you've got some proper sleep since!
