Actually, I tend to think the initial response on my part is more to do with the fact that the trip back was difficult, what with Sharon's back being buggered, and that every day since I have basically wiped myself out working on these three posts. Three posts where I knew no matter what I said, or how carefully I worded things, there would still be people who would find issues and go on the attack.

So, less about wavelength and more about tiredness and frustration at the end of a very hard few days, post-con.

Any issues I have with the way Rose and Perry handle the con in general are separate to this. It's the reason I make a point of saying they were thrown into damage control mode, and why I apologise to the chairs and the ComCon for adding yet another needless and thankless task to the workload.

If I was seriously going blame people for not talking to me first, I wouldn't have taken responsibility or apologised to them in the first place. I'd have just pulled a huffy, "Well, they made it worse, so I'm not saying sorry to them!"

For what it's worth, this hasn't spoilt the convention for me. I think I've been around so long now that most of the time I can compartmentalise these things, so unfortunate situations goes in this box, positive con experiences go in that box. I enjoyed the con, and the program was up to your usual excellent standard.

Oh, and when I told one of the program committee that they were one of only two people in Australia that I thought were up to your standard as a programmer, they were really chuffed at the comparison to you. Been meaning to tell you that one :)
