I get that, but if you take away the visuals, the song still works. So are they complaining about the song, or just the clip?
I'm half asleep so may be wording this badly, but complaining that it sexualises girl geeks assumes (to me) that the girls either (a) were made to wear the costumes, or lack thereof, or (b) are wrong for being geeky and sexual.
I get the argument against sexualising geek girls, there's that whole subtext of 'if I show you my body can I be allowed to hang out with the boys, please?' But there's no allowance made for if the geek girls want to express themselves in this way for no other reason than it pleases them.
Put another way, well, if we're going to complain about this, we should be arguing for stopping corsets and revealing costumes at conventions.
I hope that made sense, I've been up since 4:30 after a bad night's sleep.
