I love orginal Panther movie, Sellers just makes it. Study in Scarlet is dull, the worst Holmes on screen. If you not seen it, try Murder by Decree with Plummer as Holmes and James Mason as Watson it just magic. I think most Carry on films do hold up, the early ones were just taking a mic out of life. Charles laughton is great- his Henry 8th is great, sentor role in advise & consent just brillant. As for Night of the Hunter he directed brillant, its film that took long time for people to know what a brillant film. His bio his very good by Charles Higham.
