Spoke to state library today, and there is both bad news and good.

Sadly, there are no Squiggle performances as such. From the sound of the lady I spoke to, they've had an awful lot of people ringing up expecting performances.

However, there are puppets on display! Having seen the puppets up close before, they're lovely. I'm assuming Mr. Squiggle will be there, of course. Hopefully Blackboard will be, too. I remember Norman saying that the reason Blackboard's face had such limited movement was simply down to not having time to get him finished before the show started, and then never getting around to doing any more to him.

It's open through the Library's opening hours, there's a children's drawing area, and a bunch of Mr. Squiggle clips on a loop.

Needless to say, I will be charging up all my camera batteries and will hopefully take many, many photos.

Thanks!

Thanks heaps for telling us about the Squiggle exhibition - I hadn't heard about it, and am looking forward to going along with my sister - many fond memories of watching the show with her after kindy/school.

(I still have a Mr Squiggle badge, which I received in return from the only fan letter I ever sent. I was in primary school then.)

I got a "sneak preview" walking out of work today. It's looking mighty fine!

photos please online

Please take lots of photos and post them somewhere I can look at them. The Hethringtons are lovely people and Mr Squiggle is special. If you can ask about the Archibald painting Nick S did. As an artist norman should have an interesting take on being a subject for the portrait prize.

The UNIMA 2008 International Congress and Puppet Festival starts on Wednesday. There's shit lots to see (including Mr Squiggle and his phallic nose). The Million Puppet Project exhibition will be showing at the Perth Concert Hall. It'll be the first thing I venture to when I get to Perth. (And there's cool wooden automata exhibition at the Western Australian Museum!)

Puppets puppets puppets puppets puppets puppets.
