Sharon struggling through labour.


Sharon in the bath. The warm water did a good job of reducing her discomfort, but she got chilled very quickly, which exhausted her far more than the labour had been.

Sharon and Lex's first feed. Took him about an hour to find the nipple and latch on. These days they recommend letting the baby find the breast on it's own, and attach in its own time. Causes less problems, in most cases.

And for all those other mum's out there who feel a bit ripped off that Shaz had a comparitively easy run, a shot of Sharon straight after the birth in which she looks a bit pale and drained. She did better than most, but it still knocked the stuffing out of her.

Actually, I think Sharon looks beautiful in that last photo. A happy, relieved and triumphant sort of beauty. (Mind you, Lex looks less than pleased to leave the everything-on-tap part of his life behind - a displeasure which the previous photos all confirm was rather short-lived!)

Oh she looks great, but you can she's tired, whereas I don't think that comes through anywhere near as strongly in the other photos.

As for Lex, he'll just have to get used to disappointment - I am his father, after all :)
