30 films watched so far this year - very happy about this :)

Still working through the Hammer Horror Dracula and Frankenstein films. The only dud so far has been Evil of Frankenstein, and that's mostly because Frankenstein needs to act outrageously stupid in order to forward the plot.

Spirits was every bit as good as I'd remembered, and Lost in Translation was a fabulous little film. Certainly not one I'd have picked up if it hadn't been for [livejournal.com profile] angriest's best movies of the last decade list, which has turned me on to some great little flicks - so thanks Grant!

Hammer horror are truely great, I agree your comment about Evil of Frankenstein. Frankenstein Created Woman is such a different feel to
the film. Dracula Prince of Darkness is great, so begin the serial
cliffhangers of those films, I can remember the tv trailer for D has Risen from the Grave in 69, channel 0 was showing rerun of the Munsters.
Scars of Dracula I like, not because it has Patrick troughton or Dennis waterman in, it just good Hammer film. same as the taste the blood of dracula, about Victorian values.

I have been watching the Universal Horror films- so far I seen Dracula, the Mummy and the spanish ver.of dracula.

Having watch Risen I'm going 'How the Hell does Drac come back from that?!"

I love that they have, so far, killed him in a different way each time. Though for sheer brutality Horror of Dracula stands out.

I love the Universal films. I've got the Legacy Collections of Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolfman, and Creature from the Black Lagoon. Creature is still my fav, but I have to say, apart from the second film which is a waste and misses the point, I loved the ongoing Wolfman storyline. If you watch those films, and all the group films that feature the character, there's actually a full story being told over several films.

Total agreement here. I must to admit I'm big fan of the
Wolfman, I'm interested with the new version with Higo Weaving.
