re: DVDs: this is why I have become a law breaker. I have ripped all of my DVDs to hard disk. I am now in the process of re-encoding them to H.264, with the aim of getting an Apple TV to play them back - without the fucking annoying adverts. Don't get me on the unskippable menus, either - I just want to watch the bloody show, not witness how incredibly great your animators are - I get it, already, now GIVE ME THE SHOW I PAID GOOD MONEY FOR!

It would, of course, be Wrong and Immoral for me to tell people that I have a full set of iPod formatted rips (for the iPod Touch) for all of my DVDs (lots of movies, lots of TV shows), and offer opportunities for copying said rips (~265 GB for the iPod stuff, ~389 GB for the Apple TV stuff that I've done so far, which may or may not work - I'm hoping it will, because it would Really Suck to have to re-encode everything.) So I won't. I wouldn't dream of doing so, because, as I said, it would be Wrong and Immoral.

To be honest I only think it becomes immoral if you started giving those rips away free to your friends.

I have watched so many names that I've really liked or picked over the last ten years all become popular.... I could list five or six without thinking.

That said, Zoe's a name I'd kind of decided I liked recently - grrr!
My advice? Go with it - I think Zoe Oz palindrome is something no one else will have! Besides, it's awesome ...

If first bub had lived she would have been Alexandrovna Oz. No-one would have had that.

As it is, Alexander has taken off, I know several young Alexs, Alecs, Xanders, but fortunately only one Lex - so far.

I think Alexander has always been a pretty consistently popular name. And it has been used throughout my family. Edward should've been Alexander Edward, not Edward Alexander as he was named.

I will give you the fact that had your first one lived and been given that name, that would've been unique. Then probably shortened to Alex....

I like the idea of the Zoe palindrome because no matter whether she changes her surname she's still got the oz there...! I will campaign for it!

I think it's just that there are so many people nowadays anything you think is original has been done millions of times before...

I just felt it had become too common, whereas Clara hadn't, and Clara's such a nice name. "Zoe Elizabeth" sounds nice though, doesn't it!

I was thinking Zoe Elizabeth, or to go with Zoe Josephine Elizabeth. Joseph/Josephine is a bit of a semi-tradition second name for the family. And Zoe J. E. Oz keeps the palindrome :)

Thanks so much for that ChatRoulette/YouTube link, I was really pissed off by something and that cheered me right up.
