The Illusionist

Snakes on a Train
Fight Club

Captain Blood
I didn't enjoy The Illusionist as much as I would have liked. It's a good film, but it unfortunately hit my 'impossible tech for the era' button way too hard, which is a problem to do with what I like in a film, not a problem of the film itself.
Snakes on a Train was disappointingly dull and boring. It had all the outrageous stupidity of ideas and plot that it should have been a winner, but unfortunately uninspired direction and bad pacing kill it.
The rest of the films are all great in different ways, and are worth watching if you think they may be your cup of tea, though I don't think Luthor worked terribly well towards the end of Public Enemies

My initial response at the end was that I wanted to watch it again at some point in the future. Now I realise I have no desire to. So maybe I disliked it more than I realise.
The locket was the bit that really shat me, because it was always full screen, so you could see the differences in the various props they needed to pull off the illusion of it all being one locket. To me, given its importance within the context of the film, that was the clever device that needed to be real - it would have helped with selling the rest.
Prestige is a kick-arse flick. I've had people say that out of the pair, most people like whichever one they saw first. Maybe I should get Shaz to watch Illusionist first...
