I got a speeding ticket! Wah!

My first ever speeding ticket in nearly two decades of driving. I was so proud of that record! I know when it happened and I have no doubt that it happened. I was sick and driving to the doctor and concentrating on driving very carefully while my head swum. I even remember a point where I thought 'nope, going too fast, slow down'. My concentration was more on keeping te car steady than the speed.

I'm severly crapped off by this. Not by being fined, I broke the law, I deserve the fine.

I'm crapped off at myself that it happened, by the fact that it's cost us $131, and that no mechanic I have taken my car to has been able to fix my speedo, something that may have prevented this. I want to go around to them all now and ask for their share of the fine cost.

I'm also tempted to ask for the photo. Not because I doubt it, I just want memento of the day my driving record went poof :)

*SNAP* Now we match. As you know, the one and only speeding ticket I ever got was when I was unknowingly running a fever due to an infection and was not quite as capable as I thought I was. I ended up in hospital the next day to get my appendix out, which is my proof that it was just because I was sick damnit!
God, I remember you saying the other week about the danger of becoming one of those couples that match.

The only time I've been stopped for speeding was about 20 years ago on the road between Katanning and Arthur River. The cops were coming in the opposite direction and pinged me. I was doing 130 in a 110 zone, in a hire car. I told them it was a hire car and that I wasn't used to it as I normally drive a Vee Dub.

They accepted my excuse and told me be more careful.

Had they come by a little earlier, they would have caught me doing 160 in a 110 zone.

Of course, in Victoria, almost nobody is "stoppped for" speeding any more. In the good old days, you could get off if you had a good reason, because you were dealing with a human being. Now, it's 99% privately-run automated cameras that book you for 63 in a 60 zone.

Dang, if I was around I could take care of that speedo quick fast and in a hurry. I have had to do it on a 73 Pontiac Ventura, my Camaro, and so forth. I gots experience.
MY first ticket wasn't speeding. It was reckless driving when I lawn darted my Camaro into the back of the art teachers Ford Maverick in the school parking lot after getting airborne.
