Have you tried a posting client like semagic? http://semagic.sourceforge.net/ it saves drafts every 10 minutes if you want it too; supports all the lj markup; has a wysiwyg editor and is free. No it's not on every computer you use but it's worth a look.
Its from Mindkiller I think which I seem to recall as being fairly unpleasant in parts (in terms of the things described, not the writing which I also recall as being fairly good)
