There's sleet here! Sleet! And they've had snow in Civic!

This is as close as I've ever been to real, dinky-die snow!

I love Canberra!

Snow!? I didn't seen snow! Where was snow?

[livejournal.com profile] lilysea expressed skepticism when I told her about some hail recently. :)

I've since discovered (via the flist) that snow was everywhere I wasn't. :)

It's November, just a couple of weeks off Summer, and you're excited about snow? *shakes head, mumbling just wait til he's been through a Canberra winter, mumble*

Actually, it is pretty exciting, as long as you don't have to go outside, but can stay in the warm and look out and go "ooh, pretty"

It was pretty widespread not just restricted to Canberra. Victoria had nearly a dozen regions with snow and not just the Alpine area.

YAY! there was much excitement in the office about this. This is also the closest I have come to falling snow (a small patch on the ground in NZ doesn't really cut it IMHO)

Canberra rocks!

Not sure about the snow but I certainly got rain and sleet whilst riding home today.

Oh well, at least there was plenty of bike parking at work. :)

Speaking as a former Perth boy it still seems kind of surreal to be getting this sort of weather in an Australian city. Owning three pairs of gloves also seems kind of wrong somehow.

I'm glad you're enjoying it though, it is kind of fun once inside. :)

I must admit the one of the highlights of my first trip east when I was a young lad was going up into the mountains and seeing snow.

Did the usual. Made a snow man. Threw snowballs. Went tobogganing. Endless fun!

The closest to snow I'd been was in NZ in summer time in the north island.

There was only one mountain there that had snow on it and it was unseasonabley cold according to the locals .

My parents and I went up on the chairlifts and my dad and I threw snow balls and each and commented on how cold it was mainly cos we had no gloves . I brought melting snow down with me on the chairlift for my Nanna and Auntie who were too chicken to go on the chairlifts and we took a photos of my Nanna and Auntie tasting snow .

Y'know, given how *weird* you are about getting out into the country and all that I'm rather surprised you've never seen snow. Odd.

I discovered how much I like arid and bush areas and just never got around to it.

I saw it snow once in Melbourne on a humid 35+ day. While doing my meat inspection course, we went to big industrial freezers that were 18 degrees below zero. They opened the big sliding doors, all the hot air raced in, and fell as little snowflakes.

on my second last visit to Canberra (mid 80's) I went up during a cold snap in Victoria. It was the first time snow fell in Boronia in 30 years and as I drove up the Hume Hwy there was snow all the way to the capital. I was there 3 days & it still hadn't melted in the shadows! If you like cold boy, you gone to the right town. I was in the tropics 2 weeks ago....

... so you'd probably enjoy Glasgow, then, too. There were rumours of possible snow today, although I suspect it was mostly in the hills around the place.
