I've been feeling flat and fighting depression most of the day - thank God for Mythbusters and South Park! Been feeling drained the last couple of days anyway, and then this morning I leapt across the bed to give Sharon a kiss... and have been really giddy ever since. Probably the worst I've been since mid-year. Which I would say would suggest something physical like inner ear, but nothing showed up on either the MRI or the CATscan tests that targeted that area. *shrugs*

So that firmly put the mockers on going out Santa-ing today. I've always had problems of depression at Christmas, except for the previous two years where I played Father Christmas. That I'm down today I would suspect is more than a co-inky-dink.

But Christmas episodes of MB and SP ("It's a Woodland Critter Christmas" "Hail Satan!"), plus Invader Zim's 'Most Horrible Christmas Ever', and Batman Adventures 'Christmas With the Joker', all kept my spirits up... or at least, temporarily distracted.

At least I had nachoes :)

Christmas time is here by golly, disapproval would be folly....

But yeah, not a good one for you, mate. I know anything I could say about how its got to get better, or they are sure to work out whats wrong, or whatever would be crap - we all hope for the best, but nothings certain. And not Santa-ing must have sucked.

But you have the right idea - a couple of rowsing choruses of 'Bow down bow down before santa and his jolly boots of doom' and 'happy as a jew at Christmas' is all that a crappy Christmas deserves. There'll be better days, but those days don't have cynical TV specials to enjoy.

Dude, thanks so much for avoiding either the 'you'll get better' or 'when will they figure out what is wrong?' style responses. Can't tell you how much I genuinely appreciate it. *big smile*

I realised I really do need to track down a cope of Die Hard to go with my other Christmas movies, like Gremlins.

For the record, I also watched Lexx and an episode from the second season of The Adventures of Superman with George Reeves. Wonderful stuff :)

I meant to watch 'Die Hard' on Christmas eve, but there was a Muppet version of 'It's a Wonderful Life' showing when I switched the TV on, so... but I did have time watch 'Christmas with the Joker' and 'Holiday Knights'.

Spent the evening and most of Christmas day with family, so didn't get to pick the movies, but we did watch Tim Burton's 'Frankenweenie' and 'Vincent' (extras on The Nightmare before Christmas), and Mythbusters.

My absolute favourite Christmas movie, though, is still 'Brazil'.

Bugger.

Yeah, distraction is the key. I'm mostly just crashed on the couch today watching TV, can't cope with much else.

At least I have reasons for being physically (and emotionally) crap today. Although I don't think that's helping.

Having a bad few days is one thing, having it at Christmas makes it so much worse. Specially with how much being Santa means to you.

You know, I could imagine with a few Zim episodes under your belt being a really, really disturbing Santa... Fear not, Santa will ride again, striking fear um, love into the hearts of Canberran children everywhere!

(I figure you have a good dose of sympathy, so this time I'll give you silliness instead. Hope it helps.)

You know me well :)

So... where my red-headed ladies with no clothes on?

there are so many reasons why christmas can suck for people, yet society doesn't want to acknowledge this, which really gets on my nerves.

Thank you so much for talking about the genuine crapness that Christmas can bring. It's like Christmas singles out people who aren't happy or who are less fortunate and then jumps on their faces and then laughs a bit more.
