They actually did this experiment with spiders and drugs. It was featured in New Scientist many years ago (2000?). I have a T-shirt with the promo picture on it....four very bizarre looking spider webs.
*laughing head off* the funny thing is that there ARE Hammock Spiders - so when they started going on about that I thought "oh, it's that easy to switch them from vertical to horizontal web-building? interesting
