I can take pictures of more than bugs, and tonight I not only saw the comet, I got pics! Very happy! And for those interested in more earthy things, I got pics yesterday of a dead galah. Pics below cuts for those interested.
I'm using a Canon Powershot S45 digital camera. Most of the pics were taken with a 15 second exposure (its maximum) at 2272 x 1704 pixels. Normal zoom goes up to 3x, digital zoom takes that to 11x, but the drop in quality is seldom worth it.
I'd say pick a day and make a trip to some nice out of the way place with good views to the western horizon where you'd be happy enough just watching the sunset, then if nothing else, at least you've had that :)
It was around 9pm when we saw it and it was clearly visible for about an hour from then.
