It's not been officially released to the trade yet but we thought you guys on the forum would like to be among the first to know the following announcement is coming hot off the press.

Classic addition to Doctor Who range

BBC Worldwide is delighted to announce that Character Options, one of the UK's leading toy companies, will be launching a fantastic range of classic Doctor Who figures.

The 5" figures range will initially include detailed replicas of classic Doctors, plus a number of monsters and will be launched in the spring of 2008.

As master toy licensee Character has enjoyed immense success alongside BBC Worldwide through its Doctor Who range of products and predicts a hugely positive response to the new collection.

Commented Jon Diver, Joint Managing Director at Character Group: "The resounding success of the Doctor Who TV series is made up of both new and existing Doctor Who fans. We have reacted to public demand and will be producing a range to the depth and quality of our existing line. The classic licence will broaden the
collectibility and enhance the position of the brand."

Further to this The actual figure range details are still being kept under wraps for now for legal and clearance purposes but you can be sure there will be a few surprises and as with all ranges it will be a slow build so not everyone will get their favourite monsters or Doctors in the first wave however the intention and passion we all have for Dr Who will hopefully show though as strongly as it does in the 5" figure new Series range. We can however tell you that (pending approvals) there are 3 Doctors and 5 and 1/2 villains in the first Wave....work that one out!

-----------------------

I have been saying that I *really* want Character Options to do figures of the original series, and now they are! I am over the fucking moon about this! Please please please let there be a Hartnell figure in the first batch! Oh, and Dead Planet (no slats) versions of the daleks! Oooohhhh... they could release all the figures from Marco Polo and we could recreate the story with them!

Kandyman action figure!

Delgado Master action figure!

I visit the fertility clinic tomorrow, and I'm telling you, I don't need porn for my donation after this news...

When you see this post, quote from Doctor Who on your LJ.

"That is the dematerialisation control, and that over yonder is the horizontal hold. Up there is the scanner, those are the doors, that is a chair with a panda on it... Sheer poetry, dear boy! Now please stop bothering me!"
The Doctor - The Time Meddler
I am very excited! And judging from this, I will need to win tattslotto soon... As will many others.

Starting to think it's time to start rewatching Doctor Who from the beginning again. Saw a little bit of Dead Planet today and was immediately sucked in at once with how cool it all is.

One of the chaps on livejournal [livejournal.com profile] shenlo has been doing a little comic called the 10 Doctors. Good stuff, and some of his art and characterisations are brilliant. Rose's reaction to Susan is wonderful, and totally in character :)

His comics (and other art) can be found here. Naturally, look for page one and go from there.

Watched the Kylie concert tonight, broadcast on the ABC. In one show, between her 8 costume changes and all the varied costumes on her dancers, a single person would get enough cotume ideas for 30 decades of Mardi Gras.

My fav outfit for Kylie was the leopard spot catsuit, with the red boxing gloves. Plays on the whole Aunty Jack fetish *grin*

And I had quite forgotten about, but was delighted when I saw, the Cyberman-style costumes on her dancers. Her costume designer is a big Doctor Who fan, she said in an interview. And in case there was any doubt, there was what looked like a Gelth on a screen in the background, and we were treated to the Tardis sound effect twice.

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that the cyberman figure arrived this morning. Thank you so much for your incredibly prompt service. I can include this in my son's christmas presents now. He's going to be over the moon. Thanks again, Allison

In reaction to the announcement that David Tennant is the most popular Doctor, I thought I'd do a poll that was a little more realistic. Of course he's going to be voted most popular Doc! He's on screen now, you bloody idiots! Lots of the voters have only been watching a couple of years! Grrrr... ExpandRead more... )

Yep, I've had a bit of a headache for the last several days. Bloody annoying. Skin sensitive to the touch, eyes replaced by red hot coals, but it's not the worst I've had. Had some acupuncture which has taken the edge off.

But I'm not here for sympathy. Oh no, what I really want to talk about is the thing that is keeping me typing one handed. I've been playing with it for quite a while now, and have yet to tire of it. I wave it around, gleefully pointing the tip at things. If I point it at the dogs, they give me a reproachful look before walking away. Every time Sharon catches me playing with it, she can't help but smile.ExpandRead more... )

So, I get sent a link. I go to that link. It's a Star Trek based porno site!

As you will gather, this link is not work safe. You have been warned.

It's also just plain weird. But I had to share. Damn Trek fans are perverts!

Cheers,
Danny
*wanders off muttering* Do Doctor Who fans get porn sites? Noooo... It's not fair!

I'm having a hard time getting used to the new reality. I'm trying but it's not easy. The first part of the new reality is becoming more solid, but even after all this time, even owning the DVD boxed set, it still seems slightly... unreal.

Doctor Who is back. It's not only back, but it looks great, and is hugely popular with the general population. It's considered a cool show.

After all the years it was absent from our screens, this is still a shock to the system. But there are bigger shocks, things that make it more surreal.ExpandRead more... )
